Hello all,

Just found out that the deadline for the Chicago student environmentalists conference is tomorrow! The link is in the post below.

(I think we might be able to still get in if someone wants to go, so long as accommodation isn’t needed.)

Hello friends,

Dan O’Brien here writing the first real blog post for the OEC, yey! Whew. Okay. I wanted to share this wonderful opportunity that I found out about at my sweet work here in Chicago-the Center for Neighborhood Technology.

Who: you!

What:  a “gathering of college environmentalists to try to start a Midwest Coalition of university environmental groups and students across the region (the goal being to work on big-picture kinds of issues in addition to providing general support for students’ local initiatives).  This “Coalition” is in its infancy so it’s the kind of thing we need input on now, more than anything, I think.” From a co-workers email.

Where: Loyola University in Chicago, IL

When: afternoon of Aug. 3rd. This Midwest Student Coalition meeting is part of 2-day conference put on by RE-AMP, check them out.

Why: Four reasons

  1. Meet students with an environmental passion from other states and people who have been doing this work for a while and are probably really good at it
  2. steps up Beloit College’s OEC’s rep.
  3. have an input on the formation of a potentially really cool coalition
  4. I’ll give anyone who goes a hug.

Maybe it is time for the OEC to start working on some larger issues? Make some connections??

Unfortunately, I will not be able to go because of a family vacation but I’ll be there in spirit.

Because this Midwest Youth gathering is part of a larger conference, anyone that wants to go is supposed to register online here: http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/8HRRX8X

If anyone is interested in going, please let me know so that I can let my coworker know.

Not much time to act here folks so I understand that it might be a little hard to fit in and I recognize that a lot of you are not in the area-but no excuses (except family vacations), play like a champion.

I think that’s it, but let me know if you have more questions. Here’s my number: (414) 331-3593

Stay true,
